Hostería La Mesopotamia

English

The mill of the Mesopotamia is one of those vestiges of the Spanish colony that conserves and count with a huge architectonic wealth. For this reason, what previously was the wheat mill, nowadays is one of the most important relics of

In the construction the walls of mud and lime can be observed, with precious incrustations in wood, mud roofing tiles and a great amount of corners that cross the land, giving to the mill a haul of mystery and peace

Their rooms conserve all the details of the time: colonial furniture in wood, heavy curtains, and precious decoration details, that are normally constituted in museum pieces

The Hostel has a capacity for 80 people distributed in 3 cabins and 30 rooms; in addition it counts with a dinning room that is mainly decorated, by a mill that provides of water a small brook that crosses the hall. Also, there is a bar, chimney, hall of conferences for 50 people and an ample parking area

The food is mainly typical from Colombia, where all their ingredients are extracted of the lands of the region, giving to each one of the plates a special flavour

In our hostel the visitors enjoy the atmosphere of peace and tranquillity where the ecological spaces invite the meditation, the writing and the reading, among other many activities. Like for example, the Street of Silence is a precious stone footpath surrounded by huge vegetation.

The mill of Mesopotomia receives his name for being surrounded by natural sources of water that come out naturally in the solar of the house, one singular pool with borders of fossils and big slabs of rock, surrounded by a huge vegetation

And it’s indeed this vegetation, abundant and colourful, the one that that gives a magical touch to the Hostel, that causes that each one of our guests feel comfortable with the nature.

But not everything is vegetation. Peculiarly, in the middle of the splendour of the boyacence green, is the Desert of the Candelaria where the tones of the sand are intermingled, giving to the landscape a matchless enchantment

And within all this magical land combination, it’s located, at only 15 kilometres of Villa de Leyva, the Sanctuary of Fauna and Flora of Iguaque, one of the 46 natural reserves of the country; the Waterfalls of the Periquera, with a waterfall of more than 8 meters; and Well of La Vieja, a precious corner with big trees.
